The exact location of Bandhavgarh National Park 

Bandhavgarh National Park is situated in the Umaria district of Eastern Madhya Pradesh (Central India). It covers an area of 450 Square Kilometers and is known for its spectacular collection of flora and fauna. It is home to more than 250 species of birds and 22 different species of mammals. The vegetation of Bandhavgarh National Park includes tall grasslands and thick Sal forest.

Bandhavgarh National Park has three major zones named - Tala, Bamera and Magdi. Among these, the Tala zone attracts more tourists as it offers opportunities for sighting the tiger. The park authorities are now working to develop Magdi Zone by creating more opportunities for the tourists to spot tigers. To increase the opportunity of spotting the royal predators in the Magdi zone, elephant shows are also organized.

Tiger Population in Bandhavgarh National Park 

Though the park is majorly inhabited by white tigers it also provides shelter to several other Indian wild species like Cheetahs, Langurs, Bison and Sambars. The beautiful woods of Bandhavgarh National Park attract numerous tourists from all over the world. The park remains at its best during the spring season. The ideal time to explore wildlife in the park is from January to March. 

Bandhavgarh has no direct air connectivity. The nearest airport to Bandhavgarh National Park is at Jabalpur, one of the popular cities of India in Madhya Pradesh. Through airways, one can reach Bandhavgarh quickly from New Delhi. On arriving at Jabalpur, one has to hire a taxi to Umaria.

Wild Elephants in Bandhavgarh National Park 

So far we have an update that there are no Wild Elephants in Madhya Pradesh state. Whatever elephants we see in various national parks, are either purchased from other states or them offsprings of those purchased elephants. This is the reason why elephant rides are not very common in all the tiger reserves of Madhya Pradesh state. Recently a group of approx. 28 Wild Elephants reached Bandhavgarh National Park. They reached the Khitauli zone of Bandhavgarh tiger reserve area in the 3rd week of December 2018 and till now, present there.

As per local sources, two of the female Elephants have given birth to baby elephants thus it is believed that they will not leave Bandhavgarh very soon. It is said that a group of 10 Elephants is on the way and may reach Bandhavgarh soon. As if now, Bandhavgarh National Park authority has closed the Khitauli zone for safari drives due to which all the tourists, holding Khitauli Zone tickets are sent to the Magadhi zone or Tala zone. So far, elephants are their, diversion of tourists will continue.
